Project Description:

The individual project “Page Layout Design” was completed in Summer 2022 for the course MSJ3252 News Editing and Translation. This assignment was to complete a professional, online news portal page layout with the use of Adobe InDesign software. The project focused on how to combine text, images, and graphic elements into an appealingly coherent news layout, emulating real-world editorial design practices in the media industry.

Project Justification:

This project aimed at developing skills in page layout design-a very critical facility in the modern sub-editor’s arsenal, whether he works in the digital or print medium. Entailing hands-on work in preparing effective, reader-friendly layouts, this project used Adobe InDesign to involve students in creating text and visual images not just to convey news but also to engage in good storytelling with intelligent and appropriate placement of text and visuals. The project is dedicated to linking theoretical learning with applied practice, thereby enabling students to develop a performance ability that aligns them with common demands required by the professional workplace in editorial jobs.
